Did you know........?
Clear views of Egmont Key can be seen from the tip of Anna Maria. The lighthouse originally dates back to 1847. The Key was used to detain Prisoners in the Seminole War of 1858. Fort Dade was established in 1906 but was decommissioned in 1923. Ruins can be seen from the shore and make wonderful habitat for fish and sea life, making it a popular spot for snorkeling and diving.
